PROJECTS AND Activities
Life remains a precious asset.
Always.
Palliative Care is the set of therapeutic, diagnostic, and assistance interventions aimed at the active and total care of people whose basic disease, characterized by an unstoppable evolution and a poor prognosis, no longer responds to specific treatments and therapies for healing.
The control of pain and other symptoms, of psychological, social, and spiritual problems assumes primary importance.
Palliative care is interdisciplinary and therefore involves the patient, the family, and the community in general.
Its purpose is not to accelerate or defer death, but to preserve the best possible quality of life to the end.
Activity
Presenza Amica supports and collaborates with the Social and Health Service, but does not replace it, thus realizing for almost thirty years in the Third Sector an innovative and original model.
We are Volunteers by nature, we volunteer by choice.

Volunteering of “being there”
Volunteers are engaged 365 days a year alongside the sick person and the family - in hospice and at the home - in empathetic listening to their needs.
A discreet presence, a friendly presence.

We give dignity to life
The sick person is a member of the community, even when the forces are lacking and the ability to communicate is reduced, whose right to be cured and not to suffer is recognized.
Dignity is to be recognized and seen, welcomed.
All the way.

We guarantee a human right
Early access to palliative care is a human right, such as planning care in a manner shared with our doctor or writing today what we would like to be (or not) done if we find ourselves - at the time of illness - unable to make decisions.
The right is information, the right is a choice.

Let’s spread awareness
The awareness of life and the end of life is an event to be structured: we support a collective reflection aimed at acquiring this awareness so as to be able to live fully every day and face with greater serenity the moment of detachment.
Please, be aware. Now!

Training
We prepare Volunteers to face volunteering with a strong emotional impact, particularly important because it accompanies the person and family members in the last stage of life.
We guarantee their supervision and continuous training so that they are bearers of serenity.
Formed for life.
